A Macropad (Part 3)
The parts for my Macropad have finally arrived, with my improved v2.0 board. You may be wondering, why is the banner image of this post light bulbs? It is because the hardest part of making my own macropad is the LEDs that I have been trying to solder onto the PCB. In version 1, the footprint I used was wrong; you can find out more here.
In version 2, I was glad that the footprint that I used was correct. I also improved on the spacing, so that there was enough space for the kycaps. After soldering everything onto my new Macropad, I realised there was one issue. The LEDs were not lighting up again. After doing some investigation, I realised that the Seeed Studio RP2040 (The Chip), when I tested one of the pins, it was connected to Ground. At first, I thought that it was the circuit problem, but after even deeper investigation, I realised again that it being connected to ground is normal as the chip sends data in pulses so the pin being detected as ground is normal. Yay!
So, I started soldering the last part, the EC11 and then powered it on. I will post my coding experience in the next post. Goodbye for now.
